Creative and aesthetic resistors of protest:

about actions and activisms in the public space from social and community contexts

Abstract

This article reviews different expressions, gestures, and actions in society, and in indigenous segments and communities in Ecuador and Mexico, linked to social protest in public space. I make a contextual study of these protests, as well as their creative, aesthetic, and poetic approaches. I’m interested in dialogues, relationships and conflicts that are related to activism, artivism and art, both in background and in form, as well as its image and impact on society. The struggle for human rights and nature’s rights, or demonstrations against racism, the abuse of power from the system or the resources’ abuse, are elements that contribute to the organization of people that develop creative strategies and policies linked to the staging of the body in space and, in most cases, analyzed with an ancestralism and rituality from indigenous cosmovision. They are linked to a Philosophy, Ethics and Aesthetics of Liberation.
