Yes, there is work: performative exercises for the redefinition of the domestic
Main Article Content
Abstract
Historically, domestic tasks have been relegated from the field of production. Their territorialization to the sphere of reproduction, a space usually associated with the feminine, has determined the deprivation of their economic and social value. However, contemporary discourses urge the recognition of the importance of these tasks and their generic redistribution. In this sense, the visual arts have been a powerful platform to subvert the traditional discourse and contribute with new approaches. Articulated to this, the Maternas Collective has created Sí hay trabajo, a performative proposal that makes visible the importance of the domestic space through the application of elements associated with productivity, to symbolically relocate the activities carried out in this area and legitimize them as an income in kind.
