This essay explores the relation between the material qualities of paint and their affinity with artistic research. The aim is to point out in the characteristics of oil painting, in its vagueness, unrepeatable, and indefinable spots, glimpses of an epistemology that recognizes both, certainty and uncertainty, as elements shaping knowledge.
