Abstract

This article examines the video performance series *Suicidal Practices*, created in 2006 by Quito-based artist Valeria Andrade. The essay begins with an introduction exploring the relationship between art and walking, followed by a discussion of Ecuadorian artistic proposals that engage with Andrade's work. The case study details the artist's methodologies and artistic explorations, as well as her production processes, and describes each of the eight video art pieces that comprise the series. It reflects on how the artist, through walks and journeys on public transportation, engages with public space, posing questions to passersby. The article argues that, through *Suicidal Practices*, Andrade powerfully presents her critical stance on issues such as gender roles, gender-based violence, and the vulnerability of women.
