Contemporary art: A perpetual simulation of derridian parergonality
Main Article Content
Abstract
Among the discussions about contemporary art, it is compulsory to analyze, not only the results, but the paradigmatic notions that have impregnated a practice of notable explorations that can be considered either as experimental or plainly heteroclite, as well. With the assistance of a panoramic view on contemporary art praxis, and keeping it always closely, I propose derridian parergonality as an ideal device to examine works that have been named incomplete, lacking in seriousness, or just elaborate jokes, that now can be considered as thoughts about temporary and exchange spaces between art and reality. Authors with a contemporary practice will reappear as assertive or reckless guides, between these two territories, whose opposite and complementary nature has been the interest of an artistic expression that is interested in art as an inscrutable supremacy.
