Abstract

This work ponders on images produced and/or mediated by digital technological devices, specifically images that emerge within the field of contemporary Chilean art, which contribute to the discussion around the representational problems of an algorithmic visual regime. Specifically, this article proposes the hypothesis that considering the review of certain practices existing in contemporary Chilean art that work with algorithmic language, it becomes necessary to update the theoretical framework with which contemporary artistic practices can be analyzed. For which both the notion of visionic (Virilio, 1998) and that of invisible image (Paglen, 2019) provide a starting point from which to think about the relationship between art and digitality within the new context of machinic vision.
