Contemporary art, aesthetics and autonomy
Some notes on Juliane Rebentisch's aesthetics

Over the last years, art’s philosophical thoughts, has probably been confronted to one of its greatest challenges: facing art’s present. From different theoretical traditions and argumentative positions, the notion of “contemporary art” is problematized in the philosophical field. In this article I present Juliane Rebentisch’s approaches to this topic. This philosopher can be acknowledged as an heir of the critical tradition of the Frankfurt Institute of Social Research. I try to highlight some warnings made by this author about the consequences of contemporary art and its analogies with market logics and the forms of neoliberalism.
