Abstract

This text introduces the artist Fernando Falconí’s most recent work, exhibited from August 12 to September 11, 2021, at Mauricio Aguirre's N.A.S.A.(L) space in Guayaquil (Ecuador). Throughout his artistic career, Fernando Falconí has subtly, ironically, and acutely explored scientific descriptions of species’ evolution and the development of life. Particularly, he has explored reproductive dynamics, where he explores contradictory relationship between human beings and nature. These themes have been intertwined into his critique of discourses (and incoherencies) about nation (or nation-building), culture, and education. In this new series of works (2019-2021), the artist offers new ways of interpretation (these discourses) and offers a historical commentary about how knowledge is organized and transmitted in society.
