Contemporary art, arteBA and the aura effect
Main Article Content
Abstract
Art is shown in exhibitions and cultural events. The art scene develops around different works and themes and, at the same time, within a transnational market. This dual movement allows both, proliferation and hybridizing of different ways of production, and the introduction of these products within the mercantile logic. This article analyzes Argentinean art’s circulation in 26th edition of the art market arteBA (2017) and will focus on the difficulties of local contemporary art scene. It will, as well, question the reach of Walter Benjamin’s definitions of technical reproducibility to affirm the existence of what will be called “aura effect” in contemporary art production and circulation modes.
